The ATM and the UL agree to include integrated fare options on university ID cards (09/10/2008)

The Lleida Area Territorial Transport Authority (ATM) and the University of Lleida (UL) signed an agreement today to adapt the university ID card so that it can include the entire range of transport fare options offered by the Lleida Area Integrated Fare System.

The objective of the agreement is to make it easier to take advantage of integrated fare options and to promote the use of public transport among the university community. A pioneer programme among Catalan universities, the combined cards will benefit nearly 13,000 people, including students, teaching staff and administrative personnel.

The rector of the University of Lleida, Joan Viñas, and the Secretary for Mobility of the Generalitat of Catalonia and chairman of the Administrative Board of the Lleida Area Public Transport Consortium, Manel Nadal, signed an agreement today by means of which the different fare options available through the integrated fare system can be charged on university identity cards, so that holders of such cards can use them to access the public transport network in the Area of Lleida.

This agreement contributes to promoting and fostering safe and sustainable mobility, providing increased accessibility to transport and improving the existing offer available to encourage the university community to get around by means of the Lleida Area ATM public transport network.

To promote this new application, a 10% discount will be applied for recharging fare options with a university identity card for the rest of the year.
